On July 9, 2025, The Ike Foundation® partnered with the YMCA to launch a new Ike AmBASSador Program, bringing the sport of fishing to more youth through the YMCA’s community programming. As part of this collaboration, The Ike Foundation® team worked directly with YMCA staff to establish a sustainable fishing program that will continue to serve children for years to come.
During the hands-on training session, Ike Foundation representatives taught YMCA counselors and youth leaders the basics of fishing, everything from casting and knot tying to conservation and catch-and-release practices. This session not only gave YMCA staff the tools to confidently teach kids how to fish, but also helped reinforce important life skills such as patience, focus, and respect for nature.
To help kickstart the program, The Ike Foundation® donated brand-new rods and reels to the YMCA, ensuring that every child participating has access to quality equipment and the chance to experience the joy of fishing.
